As a cornerstone of the global economy, thechemical industry is tightly interconnected in acomplex web of value chains, contributing to allgoods-producing industrial sectors, and plays avital role in the transition towards a global net-zero society. The so-called low-carbon emittingtechnologies (LCETs) are important buildingblocks in the chemical industry's net-zero
endeavour. To propel LCETs forward, the WorldEconomic Forum and major chemical-sectorcompanies founded the Low-Carbon EmittingTechnologies Initiative. While offering significantdecarbonization opportunities to all industrialvalue chains,LCETs still face various challenges. The development and upscaling of LCETs dependstrongly on favourable policy environments, rangingfrom monetary incentives to demand-side policies.
