At the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly in September 2020,Gener-al Secretary Xi Jinping announced that China would strive to peak CO2 emissions before2030 and achieve carbon neutrality before 2060. lf successful, this means that Chinawill pioneer a green industrial revolution, in which China will evolve from its traditionalmodel of economic growth to a development model with a goal of achieving a sustain-able economic system with low energy consumption, zero carbon emissions, and lowpollution at the forefront. As such, China's carbon dioxide peaking and carbon neutralitygoals are of paramount importance. In the next 10 to 40 years, China's economic poli-cies will be inseparable from the core issue of reducing carbon emissions.
