ln 2021 again, solar power was ranked the top power generation source installed across the globe.From themore than 3oo Gw of new renewable powergenerating capacity added,solar PV claimed a shareof 566,grid-connecting 167.8 Gw (see Fig.1).Solar'sshare of newly acded renewable capacity increased compared to 2o20, when it had contributed 47% oftotal renewable capacity additions.The role of solar inthe global energy transition is getting more and moreprominent,considering that in 2021,solar aloneinstalled more capacity than all other renewabletechnologies combined.
