Array Technologies announced today that its DuraTrack™ HZ solar tracker has been selected by American Capital Energy (ACE) for use in a 20-megawatt (MW) DC solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant being constructed near Searchlight, Nevada, 55 miles south of Las Vegas.
The project is the result of an agreement between ACE and NV Energy to assist NV Energy in meeting Nevada's portfolio standard. The standard requires that 25% of energy be generated by renewable resources and energy efficiency and conservation programs by 2025.
Construction of the project will further help develop Nevada's burgeoning renewable energy workforce by creating more than 120 full-time temporary jobs ranging from engineering and consulting to general labor and the electrical trades.
"We are honored to be included in this Nevada project, and we're looking forward to working again with American Capital Energy on this significant U.S. installation," said Ron Corio, Array Technologies CEO and President. "We've found American Capital Energy to be excellent at installing our systems, and very professional in their execution of projects. It really makes our job easier."
Array has installed over 60 megawatts (MW) DC utility-scale tracking systems world-wide, throughout Spain, Italy, China, Korea and the United States.
"American Capital Energy is excited to be working with Array Technologies on the Searchlight Solar I solar PV project. We have installed several PV arrays using their technology and we have developed a great appreciation to their attention to detail and the durability of their systems," said Tom Anderson COO of American Capital Energy.
