Conergy makes good on double deal with solar-konzept GmbH: the Hamburg-based company will hand over the completed 1.4 MW solar park in Altdöbern, in the federal state of Brandenburg to the investor on June 17. The solar enterprise had already sold its 2.4 MW power plant in Heimpersdorf (Bavaria) to the same client in 2009. The 18,144 solar modules, mounted in three rows on 7.5 km of Conergy SolarLinea mounting systems, feed clean power into the public grid – around 1.4 million kWh per year. As a result, over 600 households in the county of Oberspreewald-Lausitz, and therefore more than a quarter of the population of Altdöbern is supplied with solar power. 160 trees - or one solar park The reduction of CO2 is considerable: the park saves a ton a year of harmful emissions, an amount equal to the average CO2 intake of over 160 trees a year. Conergy is now ready to hand over the turnkey solar park of almost 5 hectares to the strategic investor solar-konzept, who has financed and commissioned a total of 31 MW in almost 30 solar parks since 2003. Conergy Germany Chief Apfel: “Overall annual output of solar power almost 40 times higher than in 2004” "It is not by chance that our newest solar park is located in Altdöbern”, says Conergy Germany Chief, Norbert Apfel. “Brandenburg is currently showing an enormous demand for solar power. Since 2004, the yearly output of solar power in the federal state of Brandenburg has increased more than 39-fold – that is an increase of around 4.6 MWh of solar power in 2004 to almost 180 MWh in 2009. The trend becomes even more apparent when comparing the number of installed solar parks: the 993 parks in 2004 have grown to 9,383 in 2010 - more than 9 times as many. The Altdöbern solar park location is in line with this trend and is the latest result of our excellent partnership, which had begun with our previous joint project in Heimpersdorf”, adds Apfel. solar-konzept CEO Schmitt: “Conergy’s professionalism is always impressive” The investor showed enthusiasm at the turnkey handover: “We have had excellent results in Heimpersdorf and are very much looking forward to adding another Conergy park to our portfolio”, remarked Christoph Schmitt, CEO of solar-konzept GmbH. "Their professionalism throughout the planning and implementation stages, and the timely commissioning are always impressive, and we would be more than happy to embark on more joint ventures with Conergy in the future.” Growth market Brandenburg: Only 3% of suitable roof-top space is currently used for solar power generation Conergy hopes to embark on further projects in Brandenburg, where the Hamburg-based solar company sees an attractive growth market. The federal state in the eastern part of Germany currently ranks ‘only’ sixth in terms of national solar deployment, but there are numerous roof-top spaces, which could be utilised for solar power generation beyond the currently installed solar parks in the state. According to BSW Solar, only 3% of the overall potential of around 9 GW from roof-mounted systems is currently being utilised in Brandenburg. Solar industry in Brandenburg: More than 2,300 employees overall, of which 700 are employed at Conergy’s solar module manufacturing facility alone The installation of more than 9,000 solar power plants has either secured or created 400 workplaces in various trade professions since 2009 alone. Currently, the solar industry employs around 2,350 additional staff in Brandenburg, among them the 700 employees at Conergy’s solar module manufacturing facility in Frankfurt (Oder). According to the BSW Solar, the total of newly created workplaces in the areas of delivery, trade and project management currently amounts to 250. Overall, solar industry therefore created around 3,000 new jobs in Brandenburg by 2009. |
