Inergia and 9REN have signed contracts for the turnkey construction of two ground-based photovoltaic systems – one on a fixed structure, and the other on a mobile structure. For Inergia, 9REN will carry out the engineering, technical design, civil works, supply of electrical and electromechanical parts, installation, and testing.
The two systems will be located in Puglia – one in the municipality of Spinazzola (Tarantina locality) in the province of Barletta-Andria-Trani, and the other in the town of Lamalunga in the municipality of Canosa di Puglia in the province of Bari. Both will be connected to ENEL’s medium voltage grid.
The two work sites that 9REN is opening comes on top of the 5 current locations under construction as far as building its own systems is concerned, for a total of 5MW. Once the work sites close, this capacity will be added to the 5MW in Italy that the group possesses: 2MW already in operation in the municipality of Lizzano in the province of Taranto, whose areas also include a 100kW miniwind system; 2MW in the municipality of Mesagne in the province of Brindisi; and 1 MW in the municipality of Fragagnano, in the Taranto area. Pretty fair results for a Group that only came into being in April 2008, boasting a 300MW pipeline in Italy only in the photovoltaic sector, Group assets of 20MW between its Italian and Spanish systems generating 24GWh/yr of clean energy, and an investment plan that also includes developing wind and solar thermal systems. The 9REN Group is also active in Spain with 9REN España, a company with an eight-year history in European photovoltaic market, in which it is a leader. Indeed, 9REN España boasts 100MW of built systems, 80MW of which turnkey for third parties, controlling and managing while improving their performance through its remote monitoring facility in Madrid. Also a player in the solar thermal sector, 9REN España has installed 150 systems and, at its Almazan factory in Castilla y Leon, built 170,000 m2 of solar thermal collectors.
