Axio Power宣布将为Southern California Edison建设一项10兆瓦的地面光伏项目。项目位于圣贝纳迪诺县,预计在2011年年底建成并投入运行。 Axio Power announced today that it has been awarded a 10 megawatt contract by Southern California Edison (SCE) for a ground-mounted solar power project to be constructed in 2011 in San Bernardino County. The Cascade Solar project will generate approximately 2 gigawatt hours of solar power per year, providing SCE’s customers with clean, locally produced electricity and helping SCE reach its renewable portfolio standard (RPS) goals. The Cascade Solar project is the largest awarded under SCE’s new and pioneering Solar PV Program (SPVP), which targets rooftop and ground-mounted distributed generation projects. These projects deliver solar energy where it is needed most, close to the customers who use the power, and during the critical hours of peak demand. The 10 MW Cascade Solar project keeps costs down by taking advantage of one of the sunniest locations in the U.S. and by utilizing existing distribution infrastructure, which avoids the costs and delays often experienced by other solar projects in the Mojave Desert that rely on large transmission upgrades. Axio Power has been at the forefront of utility-scale solar PV development since 2007, and has been developing this project site in Joshua Tree for over two years. "It is an honor to be one of the first projects selected by SCE’s innovative Solar PV Program," said Tim Derrick, CEO of Axio Power. "We are excited to partner with Edison to get this project built and begin delivering solar power to customers in late 2011." |
